Abstract/Objectives
The course Culture and Society , under the module “Self-education in Relation to the World”, is intended to enhance an understanding of Waldorf education in cultural, economic and political contexts and cultivate capabilities of self-education and self-reflection. This course consists of two parts. In the first part, Rudolf Steiner’s theory of three-folding society and its applications world-wide will be introduced and discussed, and the second part will focus on multi- and cross-cultural as well as current social issues in the local context.
Results/Contributions

This course is the required course of the Master’s Program in Waldorf Education.

In the early stages of the course, students will first gain an understanding of the background and conceptual content of the three elements of the theory of human intelligence. Experts and scholars who are actively promoting experimental education and multicultural education, both internationally and in Taiwan, will be invited to introduce students to practical cases from various regions and discuss professional development for teachers. Students will also be encouraged to reflect on how the new type of teacher profession should be developed within the social and cultural context of Taiwan, and how teachers, teacher educators, and mentors can collaborate to cultivate cultural dialogue and foster self-education.
