Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract/Objectives
This course provides an introduction to mobile and wearable technologies along with key concepts in this emerging field. It will start with exploring commercially available wearable devices, and will cover related programming and data transmission approaches. As the course progresses, depending on students' level of comprehension, I intend to gradually introduce the potential expansion of sensors and other wearable devices. This expansion will encompass various aspects such as body and health information like ECG and EEG, as well as body gesture or movement detection, aimed at facilitating interdisciplinary co-creation. Throughout the course, I will engage students in discussions on the findings of top conferences focusing on innovative technologies. The course delivery will be a combination of lectures and hands-on sessions. Additionally, regular discussions with students will be held to refine their project ideas or artworks, with the goal of showcasing or even publishing their work by the end of the semester. For motivated students, I will explore opportunities to support them in submitting or extending their results to relevant international conferences such as CHI or UbiComp.
Results/Contributions

This course introduces mobile and wearable technologies and key concepts in this emerging field. The course will also start with commercially available wearable devices, introduce related programming and data transmission methods, and then gradually introduce possible expansion of sensors and other wearable devices, starting from body and health information such as ECG and EEG, to body movements. Cross-domain creation looks like body perception such as detection and real-time interaction. We discuss the results of top conferences on innovative technologies with students in the course, and we teach in a half lecture and half hands-on manner. We also regularly discuss with students to adjust their ideas for their works, hoping that they can be displayed or even published internationally at the end of the semester. Results from the Conference on Human-Computer Interaction or Mobile Wearable Technologies.
