Abstract/Objectives

On October 22, 2025, the Department of Chinese Literature at National Tsing Hua University held the Master’s Student Academic Paper Conference for the 2025 Academic Year. The conference was organized into five sessions, covering topics such as Qin and Han language and thought, writers’ cross-cultural experiences and personal growth, the “self” in classical poetry, the transmission of Confucianism, and cultural contexts and the intellectual mind. Multiple Master’s students presented their research findings, with commentary and feedback provided by doctoral students from both within and outside the department.

Results/Contributions

On October 22, 2025, the Department of Chinese Literature at National Tsing Hua University held the Master’s Student Academic Paper Conference for the 2025 Academic Year, inviting Master’s students to present their research and providing a platform for scholarly exchange and the showcasing of academic achievements. The event began with opening remarks by Department Chair Hou Daoru and Professor Bing Shangbai, and featured five sessions covering Qin and Han language and thought, writers’ cross-cultural experiences and personal growth, the “self” in classical poetry, the transmission of Confucianism, and cultural contexts and the intellectual mind. The program spanned classical literature, intellectual history, and modern and contemporary literary studies, reflecting the department’s diverse and in-depth scholarly interests.

Each session was chaired by departmental faculty, with Master’s students presenting their research and doctoral students from both inside and outside the department providing commentary. Reviewers offered specific feedback on research questions, source usage, argumentation, and methodology, helping presenters refine and deepen their work. Faculty and student participants actively engaged in discussion, creating a rich environment for academic dialogue and critical exchange.

Overall, the conference not only gave Master’s students the opportunity to share their research milestones but also strengthened scholarly interaction within the academic community. It fostered students’ skills in presenting and articulating their work while promoting the further development and expansion of research topics.
