Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract/Objectives
Many companies have been addressing the importance of transforming and upgrading their manufacturing sectors, arousing attention by society toward digitalization, and smartness/intelligence in manufacturing. Facing the challenges of developing Industry 4.0, they must master and understand the connotation and direction of its application, the architecture of Industry 4.0 and the background of smart machinery/ manufacturing, and achieve the goal of sustainable business operation. This course objective is to combine the theory and application of Industry 4.0, to enable students of various departments to understand the importance of Industry 4.0 on the manufacturing industry and the related technologies of Industry 4.0.
Results/Contributions

"Introduction to Industry 4.0 and Development Trends" course is offered in the General Education Center, the purpose is to understand the current and future changes in technology, economy, humanities and life and learn related cognitive energy. The development of Industry 4.0 includes many fields such as: Internet of Things, big data, artificial intelligence, international situation development, digital economy, etc. Under the huge system, such as science and engineering, humanities, biomedicine, education, etc., converge into a technological network. The trend of striving for a better life has already happened.

Although this course is mainly based on theoretical introduction, in order to give students a practical understanding of the outline of industrial intelligent manufacturing, a number of research contents (cooperative and self-developed) are introduced in the class, including: self-propelled vehicle system, additive manufacturing, temperature/Humidity monitoring, internet of thing and automatic optical inspection, etc., the content includes big data, sensors, unmanned vehicles, and mechanical processing and manufacturing systems mentioned in the class. The structural system design of self-propelled vehicles mainly uses LIDAR system (detects the surrounding environment) as shown in the picture above. In addition, Vice President Shen was also invited to gave students a rich speech on automation control and detection technology. It is hoped that students can understand the future development trend of smart manufacturing through this course and help students to refer to their future directions.
