This course offers a customized five-week practical teaching program on AI ambient music design, introducing the concept of ambient music and the application of AI music generation tools in ambient music design. Students are required to bring their own laptops for hands-on practice and final presentations. The aim is to cultivate students' ability to create ambient music suitable for the elderly, providing companionship through music tailored to their needs, which includes five proven high-demand categories for long-term care institutions: “Exercise Relaxation,” “Leisure and Arts,” “Nostalgic Times,” “Nature SPA,” and “Festivals and Celebrations.” The final presentation will invite the director of music at Body Lab, a leading brand in cross-disciplinary music and wellness healing by Feng Chao Records, to critique the students' work. We will also invite professionals from healthcare and social work services, experts in the elderly technology industry, and managers from industry-academia collaboration centers to share insights on innovative applications of elderly technology and its integration into caregiving services, facilitating discussions and encouraging students to learn through questioning. At the end of the term, students will present innovative applications of elderly technology integrated with music care solutions in groups, leading and encouraging outstanding teams to collaborate with friendly enterprises to explore the feasibility of integrating music care programs with innovative applications in elderly technology through industry-academia cooperation.
