Results/Contributions
This activity aims to promote cultural exchange between international students and local high school students, while providing an opportunity to learn about Taiwan's Minnan traditional village culture through on-site visits. The activity began at Xinghua High School, where international students met their online high school buddies for the first time. Ice-breaking games were organized to help participants get to know each other, and they practiced communicating in a mix of Chinese and English, fostering mutual understanding and achieving cross-cultural exchange.
The group then visited Luzhu Nan Ancient House, starting with a hands-on “handmade paper” workshop guided by experts, allowing participants to create traditional paper and experience the beauty of traditional craftsmanship. This was followed by an immersive puzzle-solving activity, exploring the 53 san-he-yuan (three-section courtyard houses) within the village and discovering a variety of traditional buildings, including red brick houses and earth-walled houses. Through these interactive games and explorations, participants gained a deeper understanding of the history and cultural significance of the Luzhu Nan village, enriching their appreciation of local Taiwanese culture and promoting cultural understanding and exchange.
