Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract/Objectives
The old town of Hsinchu meets all the conditions of the historical district and is also an important field of this research. It has both tangible and intangible historical and cultural connotations. However, in the daily life of the people in Hsinchu, although this area has a sense of history, it is not enough to show the historical and cultural value of the historical district. It is an important task of this project to re-gave the Hsinchu Old Town to the meaning of a historic district and encourage the emergence of normal culturally operated communities to intervene in the daily life experience of the citizens.
Results/Contributions

The first step of this project is to connect actors in the old city to build communities that talk about historical districts, and create different cultural experiences through their cooperation. Next, Hsinchu needs a more complete collection mechanism for cultural memory, and at the same time, it must emphasize the active participation of citizens. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to eliminate problems in the process of providing materials for citizens and lower the threshold for participation. This will be an important basis for supporting the sub-projects of this period. It is also the basis for the joint efforts of the public and private sectors in cross-domain governance. Through the process of data publicization, it is also possible to discuss how the value of "historical districts" can be remembered and affirmed.

The final goal is to find an old city cultural experience center, which is more closely integrated with the life of the public. What is tentatively determined is not a tangible base, but the formation of a cultural settlement. The actors are scattered in the old city, and through close connections and jointly creating a neighborhood atmosphere, the historical and cultural values are transformed into a part of the lives of citizens.
