Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract/Objectives
As EU countries place greater emphasis on environmental protection and global warming issues, EU environmental law has rapidly evolved and now plays a significant role on the global stage. As the integration of the EU intensifies, the influence of EU environmental law has become even more far-reaching. Although Taiwan is geographically quite distant from the EU, Taiwan's environmental regulations and industrial development are strongly influenced by EU environmental law. For instance, studies of policies and regulations in our country often regard the EU as a key subject of research. Additionally, many of Taiwan's export-oriented industries must be mindful of new standards introduced by EU environmental regulations.
Results/Contributions

The course aims to delve deeply into the legislative processes of the EU concerning environmental protection and global warming, and their profound impacts on the world and Taiwan. As the EU continues to progress and integrate in the field of environmental protection, EU environmental law has become an important legal system with global influence. This course not only allows students to understand the basic framework of EU environmental law but also explores how these laws are implemented across different EU member states and examines their impact on international trade and global environmental policies.

Through studying key issues in EU environmental law, students will gain the ability to address environmental challenges through legal means, such as climate change, pollution control, and biodiversity protection. Moreover, considering that many of Taiwan's export-oriented industries need to comply with EU environmental regulations, this course also emphasizes understanding the specific impacts and adaptation strategies of EU environmental standards on Taiwanese industries.

The main contribution of this course is to cultivate students' understanding and analysis of global trends in environmental law and their practical application from an international law perspective. Students will learn how to use legal tools to promote sustainable environmental development in a globalized context and provide theoretical support and practical guidelines for potential future involvement in international environmental negotiations or the formulation of national policies. Through this course, students will not only deepen their understanding of EU environmental law but also grasp the impact of regulatory changes on international business, laying a solid foundation for their future careers in the fields of environmental policy and law.
