Results/Contributions

The Physical Education Department of National Tsing Hua University has promoted the diversification of physical education courses this year, and opened a new course, SUP Stand Up Paddle (hereinafter referred to as SUP).

The course is offered in the indoor standard swimming pool with 8 waterways and 50 meters in the main campus. The courses include: falling into the water and boarding, kneeling, sitting, kneeling, standing, moving and turning, 360-degree rotation on a fixed axis, single rowing, double rowing and other basic movements.

In addition to the basic teaching of SUP, this course adds interesting game interspersed experiences such as dragon boat board and water floating blanket, so that students can not only learn SUP technology, but also let students establish an interest in water activities and the concept of water safety. In addition, students are allowed to experience the challenge of jumping, walking, muscle strength and balance training on the SUP board, so that students can develop a love for water sports through personal participation and practice, and then develop the purpose of lifelong leisure activities, and learn about sports from it Health benefits.

How to get on the SUP for the first time is really difficult. At the beginning of climbing the SUP, I fell into the water when I was unstable, but after practice, I can master it.

At the beginning, try to row from a sitting position, control the left and right and front and rear directions, and don't get the wrong way to hold the paddle. Because there is no wind and waves in the indoor swimming pool, most of the students can operate in a short time. From sitting to kneeling, after a few weeks of practice, after learning to control the direction, from kneeling to standing, there are many falls into the water. After playing a few times, you will get the skills, and everyone can start moving. After finally grasping the knack of standing up, like a proud swan, you can freely come and go in the water. In the end, you will feel that you have gained a lot. SUP is really fun and a sense of accomplishment.

The students who chose this course said that they would choose it again next time, and they all expressed their hope that they would have the opportunity to go paddling in outdoor waters next time, to experience paddling SUP in outdoor waters, to enjoy the beauty of nature and to breathe fresh air.
