1.Promoting Sustainable Development Education in Jiugang Island (Village):
The project actively advances sustainable development education in Jiugang Island by inviting interdisciplinary faculty from National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) to bring new research perspectives. Collaborations with the Society of Wilderness, Zhuzhong Community College, and the Second River Management Office promote local ecological tourism, enhancing ecological tours and experiences related to historical and geographical changes. Efforts focus on addressing challenges in local development while fulfilling social responsibilities concerning climate change and low-carbon tourism.
2.Environmental Trust Base Experience Camp at Nature Valley:
An interdisciplinary group of NTHU faculty participated in an environmental trust base camp led by the Nature Valley team, observing local ecosystems, flora, and fauna. Participants explored a century-old abandoned charcoal kiln and visited the habitat of Taiwan’s large horseshoe bat family. Traditional Hakka stone masonry techniques were showcased, preserving local craftsmanship.
3.Support for Dazhuang Elementary School’s Eco-School Certification:
The project successfully assisted Dazhuang Elementary School in obtaining certification under the Taiwan-U.S. Eco-School Partnership Program. The school received notification of certification approval in January 2024 and was awarded the bronze medal in April 2024.
4.Xiangshan Wetland Ecology and Curriculum Development:
During the second semester of the 2023 academic year, courses focused on the socio-cultural analysis and field investigation of Xiangshan’s oyster industry. In 2024, the curriculum centers on wetland conservation, offering preparatory courses such as ecological observation, green algae and carbon reduction, AI in natural resource management, and green technology innovation, equipping students with foundational knowledge in wetland ecology.
5.Establishment of the Xiangshan "Oyster Academy Zone":
The academy aims to deepen understanding of Xiangshan’s local culture, history, and ecology. It enhances local identity through wetland exploration and field research activities.
6.International Collaboration with Waseda University and Fuji City (Japan):
