Abstract/Objectives
RElec is committed to establishing an efficient and user-friendly recycling system for the most efficient disposal of electronic waste (e-waste). Our research indicates that while the majority of individuals express a desire for a solution to facilitate easier e-waste recycling, the lack of knowledge about appropriate procedures often presents a barrier to action. RElec aspires to catalyze this transition from intention to action, offering a seamless recycling experience and engaging all stakeholders in the recycling process.
Results/Contributions
We have successfully completed the preliminary stages of the project, which include identifying the problem, conducting user research, and performing market analysis. The next phase involves launching a pilot project, starting from the National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), and eventually extending to the entire greater Hsinchu area.
We have selected NTHU as the pilot location for the following reasons:
- A substantial amount of e-waste generated by students, faculty, and departments highlights a clear need for effective recycling solutions on campus.
- As a relatively closed community, the university offers a controlled environment that allows for easier management and optimization of the project.
- The presence of e-waste recycling bins on campus indicates an institutional recognition of the importance of e-waste issues, providing a supportive backdrop for the implementation of our project.
