He was instrumental in advancing empirical social science research at National Tsing Hua University. “Wu Chyuan-Yuan Memorial Lecture” series, chaired by the Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, aims to inspire reflection and action on technology, society, humanities, and management, fostering interdisciplinary leaders with humanistic values and social responsibility.
Results/Contributions

"Energy Generation" as a Scientific and Technological Issue, and the Politics of Green Energy Choices Energy generation is fundamentally a matter of science and technology, but the decision of how a nation produces its energy is inherently political and social. Since President Tsai Ing-wen took office in 2016, "green energy" has become a prominent focus. Massive wind turbines now stand along Taiwan's coastlines and offshore waters, while solar panels have proliferated across farmland and rooftops. In just a few years, the sources and definitions of energy have transformed dramatically.

For sociologists, such profound social change is both fascinating and vital to understand. As one of the most significant societal transitions of recent times, the energy shift cannot be overlooked. Every offshore wind turbine and every solar panel on farmland embodies a political and social narrative, each contributing to the evolving sociological story of green energy.
