Abstract/Objectives
Cultural anthropology is a discipline that helps us understand the cultural and social phenomena around us. Its subjects of research are the cultures of whole mankind. Furthermore, we attempt to comprehend the diversity, the process of formation and evolution of different cultures basing on descriptive and comparative research. The main purpose of this course is to introduce basic concepts of cultural anthropology as well as main research topics and methods of its scholars. At the same time, we will also review the development process of cultural anthropology and discuss the theories of various schools of thought and their unique research directions.
Results/Contributions
1. Student understands the main content of cultural anthropology.
2. Student knows how cultural anthropologists study their topics.
3. Student recognizes the close relationship between culture and daily life.
4. Student comprehends her or his own cultural traditions, has understanding and appreciation for different cultures.
5. Student is aware of the similarities, differences and complementarity between cultural anthropology and other social sciences.
