Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract/Objectives
According to statistics, the number of trees in NTHU is about 11,000, and the green cover area is about 40 hectares. If converted, it will show the carbon reduction effect of about 590 tons per year (about 1.5 Daan Forest Park), reducing the suspended particles in the air. The efficiency is 2,700 tons per year, so the conservation of campus trees is the key work of the school's campus environment maintenance.
Results/Contributions

1. In line with NTHU's Environmental Protection and Occupational Safety and Health Management Policy, various campus sustainability development initiatives are continuously promoted. These include fostering campus biodiversity, responsible dining consumption, green procurement, energy conservation and carbon reduction, and resource recycling and reuse, aiming to create a green campus.

2. Regarding campus tree conservation, the budget for tree pruning and maintenance was set at 2.4 million NTD annually from 2018 to 2022. Starting in 2024, the budget has increased to 4.26 million NTD, covering maintenance for the main campus and the dormitory areas in the east and west zones.

3. For the plum garden, which holds significant importance to the university, regular pruning, fertilization, and pest control are conducted on plum trees and junipers to maintain tree health and promote sustainable campus ecology.

4. To balance construction projects with the preservation of the campus landscape and environment, the university has established a Campus Landscape and Environmental Review Committee. This committee reviews various projects concerning the campus's topography, vegetation, building exteriors, and ecological environment.
