In 2024, a total of 56 local students will be recruited to serve as Bee partners, with a total of 224 Newbies (international freshmen) participating. Each Bee partner will be assigned 4-5 Newbies, and every 5 Bee partners along with 25 Newbies will form a family, resulting in a total of 11 families. From the end of August to early September 2024, a series of educational training activities will be held for the Bee partners, which will include work meetings and six sessions introducing different cultures.
During the semester, Bee partners can invite Newbies to dine together or organize cultural experience activities. Through these gatherings, Bee partners and Newbies can engage in diverse exchanges, gaining an understanding of each other's country's educational systems, social customs, folk cultures, languages, cuisine, and more, helping international students integrate into the campus at NTHU more rapidly.
The "Cultural Experience Activities" organized by Bee partners invite Newbies to participate in visits around Taiwan to gain in-depth knowledge of Taiwan’s unique cultures and local cuisines. This allows for more flexible activity schedules and a wider variety of content within the international buddy program; the photos provided are from one of these cultural experience activities where students visited Jiufen Old Street and Shifen Old Street, exploring Taiwan’s beautiful scenery, tasting local specialty foods, and participating in sky lantern experiences. Participating international students expressed that they were very happy and were impressed by the day’s activities, gaining a wealth of experiences.
