Abstract/Objectives
This study investigates self-service painting studios, specifically "Show Art Cultural Society" and "Hand Temperature Self-service Painting Studio," to understand their impact on adult art learning. Through interviews and surveys, researchers discovered several key insights. Firstly, these studios offer an unconventional painting experience, free from traditional constraints like time limits and formal instruction, allowing patrons to paint spontaneously. Secondly, they facilitate a three-stage art learning journey—exploration, ongoing development, and spontaneous creation—promoting autonomy and self-motivation among adult learners. Thirdly, art learning positively affects respondents' lives by providing escapism, enhancing well-being, and improving communication skills, contributing to a sense of achievement. Finally, these studios promote cultural engagement and artistic lifestyles, making art more accessible and integrated into daily life through exhibitions and community participation, thus enriching the adult learning experience.
Results/Contributions

This study aims to explore the emerging artistic leisure space of self-service painting studios in depth. Through in-depth interviews, surveys, and observations of two case studies—"Show Art Cultural Society" and "Hand Temperature Self-service Painting Studio"—we aim to understand how self-service painting studios shape the painting experience and serve as opportunities and processes for adults to learn art. Consequently, interviews were conducted with nine respondents, including managers, art teachers, and customers, and the research findings from the surveys reveal:

 1. The unique painting experiences shaped within the spatial contexts of both case studies incorporate elements of leisure and aesthetic education into art. They allow patrons to come and paint immediately, contrasting with traditional art studio teaching experiences: there are no time constraints or class limitations, and no art teachers provide instruction. Customers can choose their canvases and themes, and with the necessary materials at hand, they can start painting spontaneously.

 2. Self-service painting studios shape the journey of adult art learning, awakening opportunities for them to re-engage with art and promoting autonomy in learning. Six long-term respondents experienced three stages in their art learning journey: the exploration stage, the ongoing development stage, and the spontaneous creation stage. Throughout this process, they were able to set small goals independently, and faced challenges not as setbacks but as problems to be solved. They demonstrated metacognition and reflection for self-improvement, becoming motivated to continue learning art.

 3. The impact of art learning on respondents' lives spans four areas: escaping reality, enhancing mental and spiritual well-being, self-healing and restoration, and improving interpersonal communication. The benefits of learning to paint helped painters establish a sense of achievement and confidence, enriching and beautifying their lives.

 4. The self-service painting studios highlight their importance in the adult learning process by promoting cultural activities and artistic lifestyles, thus broadening the age range and bringing art closer to everyday life. Both case studies' organization of art exhibitions and participation in local cultural activities provide adults with opportunities to engage in art and enjoy aesthetic living.
