The course is planned to be taught in an open discussion form, and is decided to implement in two phases: Firstly, the students learned to analyze and appreciate ancient and modern poetry. Secondly, the students practiced the methods and melodies (especially the methods and melodies passed down by our traditional poetry chanting societies). Our goal is to reproduce and reinvent the musical and prosodic form of a poem, while highlighting the emotion and the life experiences the artist intended to convey. In addition to the classical poetry, the course also examined the continuation of this chanting tradition in modern music and literature: from Yu Kwang Chung which was composed by Yang Hsien to Zheng Chou Yu which was composed by Lee Tai Hsiang to the repeated storytelling of Lim Giong, we can still see a silver lining of this dying art form, as well as the aspirations of our young people to preserve this ancient heritage.
