Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract/Objectives
1.To address the transportation issues caused by the vast area of the campus, we will continuously evaluate various sustainable transportation and management strategies based on the campus environment and the mobility needs of personnel. 2.NTHU is committed to promoting sustainable transportation on campus. In addition to the existing campus bus and YouBike services, we consider the impact of delivery motorcycles on campus safety and sustainable traffic management. We have trialed various control methods and are continuously refining our strategies based on accumulated experience.
Results/Contributions

1.Following NTHU environmental protection and occupational safety and health management policies, we will continue to promote various sustainable development programs on campus, including initiatives for campus biodiversity, responsible dining service consumption, green procurement, energy saving and carbon reduction, and resource recycling and reuse, all aimed at creating a green campus.

2.To improve our campus traffic conditions and environmental quality, and to ensure the safety of both people and vehicles, we have organized a Traffic Committee to implement various campus traffic management measures.

3.To address the transportation issues caused by the vast area of the campus, NTHU has rented vehicles that have been inspected and certified by the regulatory agency for the purpose of providing shuttle services for faculty and students. This includes campus buses for the main campus and shuttles for the second campus.

4.To reduce the number of campus buses and bicycles in operation, we are planning the future landscape of the campus to enhance transportation. We aim to introduce shared and eco-friendly electric scooters as part of our transportation options.

5.NTHU has collaborated with the Hsinchu City Government to establish four YouBike stations, which feature hundreds of rental bicycles that can be paid for using the EasyCard. This service provides a shared bicycle option for faculty and students on campus, promoting an environmentally friendly mode of transportation both within and outside the campus.

6.TSMC has partnered with Gogoro to launch a shared motorcycle service in Hsinchu County and City, and has collaborated with our school to offer faculty and staff a 10% discount on rides for two years.

7.The recycling of unclaimed and abandoned bicycles can effectively reduce the number of discarded vehicles in the campus. In 2023, nearly 400 recycled bicycles can be reused by professors and students in the university every year. It is energy-saving and environmentally friendly.
