Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract/Objectives
NTHU is committed to creating a pedestrian-friendly campus environment. Since 2009, NTHU has applied annually to the Ministry of Education for a campus improvement plan aimed at enhancing accessibility facilities. Through continuous upgrades to the campus's barrier-free environment, the goal is to improve the campus life, learning, and adaptability of students with mobility challenges, eliminating both physical and intangible barriers. This initiative strives to provide an environment with minimal restrictions, allowing students with mobility challenges to learn alongside their peers and share equal access to educational resources. It also enables faculty members, parents, and community members with mobility needs to easily move within the campus and participate in campus activities.
Results/Contributions

1. Following NTHU environmental protection and occupational safety and health management policies, we will continue to promote various sustainable development programs on campus, including initiatives for campus biodiversity, responsible dining service consumption, green procurement, energy saving and carbon reduction, and resource recycling and reuse, all aimed at creating a green campus.

2. To improve our campus traffic conditions and environmental quality, and to ensure the safety of both people and vehicles, we have organized a Traffic Committee to implement various campus traffic management measures.

3.Since 2009, NTHU has annually applied to the Ministry of Education for campus improvement proposals for accessibility facilities. The improvement scope covers teaching spaces, administrative offices, public areas, and dormitory spaces. The projects include entrances, ramps with handrails, door and window facilities, outdoor plazas, indoor and outdoor pathways, sanitary facilities, signage, drinking water facilities, staircases, lifts, information service equipment, parking spaces, power outlets and switches, teaching and learning equipment, office equipment, and electronic facilities.
