NTHU Provides Open Lectures and Community Education Activities That Are Open to The General Public
清華大學提供公眾參與的開放講座與社區教育活動
NTHU actively promotes social engagement by organizing numerous free lectures and community education activities each year, open to the general public. These events cover a wide range of topics in science, technology, humanities, and social issues, aiming to spread knowledge and inspiration beyond the campus. Through these warm and thought-provoking activities, NTHU strives to extend the power of education into society, continuously amplifying its positive impact.
1. Free Public Lectures
Multiple units at NTHU host free public lectures on an occasional basis. The Center for General Education hosted the “2025 Professor Hsien-Liang Koo Memorial Lecture for the Center of General Education,” which explored the development and cultural value of modern sculpture in Taiwan through an examination of the artistic achievements and historical influence of four master sculptors. Since its establishment in 2006, the Sun Yun-Suan Lecture Series has hosted 6–8 talks annually, each attracting around 300 participants. The series invites distinguished experts from industry, government, and academia to share their insights on diverse topics, thereby enhancing the university’s societal influence.
2. Free Community Education Activities
The Green Pine Community College, operated by NTHU’s Center for Continuing Education, organizes free educational activities on an irregular basis to encourage civic reflection and dialogue. These programs foster a regional co-learning platform that bridges the university and the local community, promoting lifelong learning and public participation.
清華大學積極推動社會參與，每年舉辦多場免費公開講座與社區教育活動，向大眾開放，主題涵蓋科技、人文及社會議題。透過這些溫暖且充滿啟發性的活動，清華期望將知識的種子播撒到社會各個角落，讓大學的力量延伸至校園之外，持續擴大正向影響力。
一、免費公開講座： 清華大學校內多個單位不定期舉辦免費公開講座，如通識教育中心舉辦2025顧獻樑教授紀念通識講座，藉由探討四位雕塑大師的藝術成就與歷史影響，深入探討台灣近代雕塑藝術的發展脈絡與文化價值。自2006年成立的孫運璿科技講座演講，每年舉辦6-8場演講，每場約有300人參加，邀請產官學研知名專家，針對不同議題分享經驗，讓學校對社會影響力有更大的貢獻。
二、免費社區教育活動： 由清華大學推廣教育中心執掌的竹松社區大學，不定期舉辦免費教育活動，落實以課程反思公民議題，推動區域共學平台。

Green Pine Community College 竹松社區大學
Green Pine Community College, operated by NTHU, is dedicated to building a vision for community learning by integrating resources from the Ministry of Culture, local cultural affairs bureaus, and the Ministry of Education. The university not only designs activities that encourage civic reflection but also promotes a regional co-learning platform to strengthen community engagement.
